About

Independent Libertarian is a party-neutral, little-L libertarian blog dedicated to bringing high-quality news, ideas, and opinion to the already bustling libertarian movement in the United States.  We seek to maximize individual liberties while minimizing government interference in the lives of Americans.  As our name implies, we are not affiliated with any political party – including the Libertarian Party – and heed the great advice of General George Washington:

However they (political parties) may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.

If you’re new to libertarianism and are interested in what it truly means to be free or if you’re a hardened anti-statist as it is, you’ll find something interesting at Independent Libertarian.  We take a non-traditional approach to writing about libertarian topics.  We do this by making sure you are aware of what you’re reading.  Every article will be clearly labeled with respect to its overarching theme so there’s no mistaking a hard news piece from an opinion piece.

Our Free Market Solutions section is a stream of articles from our writers and contributors as to how libertarianism can heal our damaged economy.  We take issues that are commonly thought of to only reside in the domain of government and put forward new perspectives on how they can be better managed by the free market and private individuals rather than relying on local, state, or federal governments.

Our goal is to grow Independent Libertarian into more than just a blog.  We want to build a community of independent-minded libertarians under a common goal: to advance the maximum personal and economic freedoms of individuals without interference from government.
